I'm in the stage between horror and humor.
Of course, it's thanks to ESL instructor and LINCC system.
However, I'm still afraid of native American, new places and stores.
In this humor stage, people start to deal with the differences between the old culture and new culture. They learn to integrate their own beliefs with those of the new culture. Some people replace the old values with new ones. Others begin to find ways to exist with both cultures. Many immigrant parents become alarmed at this stage because they never want their children to lose their language and culture.
Sometimes I find out myself who mixes well with my neghbors, classmates and co-workers.
And then, I used to be relaxed for a while and also feel happy. Now and again I gain confidence in myself in the US.
However, just at that time I discover myself who doesn't understand at all in the course of conversation. And then, I absolutely feel sad and get depressed of spirits.
Well, people says, "You can hardly expect to be perfect from outset."
'Yes, right!'
"many a little pickle makes a mikcle.", somebody is saying close to my ears.

Your blog taught me something new. I've never heard the expression you used in the end about the pickle and mickle. I had to look it up on-line.
I'm glad you're moving from the horror stage to the humor stage. Soon, everyone will understand you. You're making great progress and are doing everything you should be doing to improve.
Yeap, it's a Korean proverb and also Chinese proverb. Provablely it may be similar that "A journey of a thousand miles starts with but a single step." The sentence isn't my awkward words because the proverb has been very popular in my country. Anyway, I'm so sorry that sometimes my expression might confuse you. Even though I'm often ashamed, I keep trying to do my best with courage.
Don't worry. I looked it up before I wrote to you before. You used it perfectly well. I have just never heard it before. I meant it -- you did teach me something new.
Thank you!
I'm very sad that my listening & speaking skills have never improved still.
It's not easy to practice a spoken English at NCC library because all the libraries are usually too quite place. Although the staffs are very kind, I couldn't get much more opportunities. They don't still recognize what a terrible bad understanding person I am.
My friend who is a professor told me before I came here, "It'll take you as long as 3 years to get a mastery of spoken English". At that time I laughed at her comment, but may it'll be much more than 3 years, or forever...
